In an effort to help adults increase their healthy food choices when eating at fast food restaurants, the iChoose 600 Campaign encourages these restaurants to include calorie information on menus in restaurants and online. The campaign proposes that most adults require 2,000 calories a day, and they should consume approximately 600 calories per meal and 100 calories per two snacks daily.
The campaign suggests that adults should choose fast food meals that are under 600 calories as a way to help adults do the following:
The campaign has been implemented in four counties of New York State including Albany, Schenectady, Suffolk, and Ulster.
No information about training was located.
Considerations for implementing this program include understanding that the program has only been implemented in New York State, recognizing success of the program requires fast food restaurants to comply with menu labeling, and obtaining buy-in from adults as they are expected to review the caloric content of food items before deciding what they order.
The Clearinghouse can help address these considerations. Please call 1-877-382-9185 or email clearinghouse@psu.edu
