This program is delivered to fathers and is intended to impact fathers and their families.
The Nurturing Father's Program is a community-based program that is designed to help participants create safe and healthy families through the use of positive discipline strategies and effective commumnication, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills.

The Nurturing Father's Program curriculum is based on the Nurturing Parenting Programs, several of which have been placed on our Continuum*. The Nurturing Father's Program intends to promote attitudes and skills that can help participants develop a nurturing parenting style. Lessons focus on the following topics:
The program is delivered through a combination of lectures, audio recordings, activities, and workbook exercises. Curriculum materials are available in English and Spanish.

The Nurturing Father's Program has been implemented throughout the United States in a variety of settings including schools, Head Start, churches, prisons, halfway houses, parenting and counseling centers, and the Military.

Considerations for implementing this program include recruiting facilitators, acquiring buy-in from fathers, finding time to implement the curriculum, and providing childcare if needed.

The curriculum is implemented in 13 weekly sessions that last approximately 2 1/2 hours each.

To move the Nurturing Father's Program to the Promising category on the Clearinghouse Continuum of Evidence, at least one evaluation should be performed demonstrating positive effects lasting at least one year from the beginning of the program or at least six months from program completion.
