This program is part of ASPIRA's Financial Education Institute, and the curriculum, entitled the Nationwide-Aspira Insurance Education Curriculum, is a result of a partnership between Nationwide Insurance and the ASPIRA Association. The curriculum contains five units, which can be taught individually or in combinations.
Each unit can be taught in a workshop format, or the unit can be divided into shorter activities that can be incorporated into existing high school courses or community-based financial literacy courses. Program instructors are encouraged to enhance the curriculum by including guest speakers from the insurance field.
In addition, computer skills are reinforced as participants work with Excel spreadsheets and perform internet searches.
The ASPIRA Association, Inc., was founded as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 1961. ASPIRA programs are currently delivered to more than 25,000 youth across the United States and in Puerto Rico.
No training is required to implement this program.
