Building Strong and Ready Teams (BSRT), formerly Army Strong Bonds, is a worksite program that is designed to increase individual and family readiness and encourage Soldiers and their families to develop resilient and healthy relationships.
No peer-reviewed publications evaluating the effectiveness of this program were located.
BSRT is presented as an off-site event that offers a safe environment for participants. The program intends to build spiritual readiness and ethical and moral strength in participants to help them improve their decision-making skills, enhance their relationship skills, and strengthen their resilience through the following events:
Events use videos, texts, personality surveys, and group discussion.
Army Strong Bonds began in 1999 and held over 3,700 events, which were delivered to Active and Reserve components of the Army. In October of 2022, Building Strong and Ready Teams replaced the Army Strong Bonds program.
This program is led by chaplains and administered at the unit level. Information on the type and cost of training was not located. Please use details in the Contact section to learn more.
Considerations for implementing this program include acquiring buy-in at the command level and from the Solider and his or her family, understanding a significant time commitment at the unit level may be necessary from the facilitator and participants, finding a suitable off-site location to hold the sessions, and providing child care and a meal or snacks during sessions.
The Clearinghouse can help address these considerations. Please call 1-877-382-9185 or email Clearinghouse@psu.edu

Implementation time will vary based on the type of event held.
This program is supported by grants, and the Army Chief of Chaplains runs grant funding. Additional information on implementation costs was not located.
To move BSRT to the Promising category on the Clearinghouse Continuum of Evidence, at least one evaluation should be performed demonstrating positive effects lasting at least six months from program completion.
